Rough Water Prevents Boat Search in Minnesota for Missing Teen

Taylors Falls, Minnesota (KROC-AM News)- Rough seas on Thursday prevented search and rescue teams from using boats to find a Wisconsin teenager who fell into the St. Croix River earlier this week.

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office has identified a teenage girl who went missing Thursday as 18-year-old D’Andrea Sanvig. Zarac, Wisconsin, lost her leg in an oversight and fell into a river. minnesota interstate park Tuesday evening.

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that the flow of water and the amount of debris in the river made it impossible to navigate the waterway with safety equipment. Authorities will continue to use aerial and ground search methods.

The Minnesota Water Rescue Division of the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office joined the search on Thursday. The crew is assessing the situation and adjusting the search daily. No signs of youth so far.

Authorities will assess conditions on the water if deemed safe. The St. Croix River is expected to reach its summit next week.
