ROY MAYNARD: AP’s Argument Against Being Booted From WH Event Is Laughable Given Its History

The Associated Press (AP) Reporter was blocked from an oval office event. The White House refused to use the new designation for the US Gulf. The AP responded by claiming that the White House was engaged in point of view discrimination and censorship.

Ah, please. The AP may consider itself a gatekeeper of US news, but the history of perspective discrimination, bias, selective, and often false “fact check” perspectives disqualified it because it deserves a seat in the White House briefing room. There are still honest journalists out there, and they deserve more of that space.

Additionally, the Trump administration needs to extend the Politico Pro subscription ban online to the AP Style Book. The tool used to implement ideological purity on the AP and left.

Let’s start with Hissy Fit on the AP.

“We are wary of the Trump administration’s punishment of the Associated Press with independent journalism,” he said. Julie Pace, executive editor of the AP, said in a statement. “Restricting access to an oval office based on the content of the AP’s speech not only severely hinders public access to independent news, but is clearly a violation of the initial revision.”

But AP’s perspective discrimination goes a long way in disqualifying it as a legitimate news outlet.

This is how to do it The AP has overturned one recent executive order: “Trump has committed to rolling back protections for trans students. They’re flooding the crisis hotline.”

The main thing Trump signed at that time was reforming Title IX, banning boys and men from locker rooms aimed at girls and women. There is no mention of protection of forced girl and woman They exchange for these biological men and take a shower.

In fact, the AP has issued “guidance” to reporters writing about transgender issues, which has become a rock step as activists pushing their most extreme ideology.

“While a person may be declared a boy at birth based on physical observations, they can feel essentially like a girl, and later show expressions of gender, such as preferring clothes and hairstyles associated with a girl,” explains the AP.

People do not “declare” boys or girls at birth. It’s a simple biological observation. But no, biology is out. “The term “biological sex” or gender (or gender) assigned at birth instead of birth was identified as a girl or something at birth.”

The AP is also not a reliable news outlet to cover subjects fairly. Look at that AP Fact Checks.

This is one: “USAID funding claims are spreading online. Many are not based on facts.” Of course, that makes the most sense. teeth Is it based on facts?

But fact-check investigations show that they are what you expect. The Biden administration’s tough defenses and attacks on conservatives are always “far-right”, but not labelled “far-far” in the AP world.

“Facts focus: It argues that there is a lack of context in which more than 300,000 immigrant children are missing.” Read one.

The AP said, “As of May 2024, more than 291,000 unaccompanied immigrant children had not received notice of appearances before court. Additionally, more than 32,000 unaccompanied immigrant children were notified of appearances but were unable to compete in the immigration court hearing.” However, calling them “missing” is “stretch.”

The AP is already in trouble. Last year, major newspaper chains, including Gannett and McClatchy, announced they would no longer be able to carry AP content. But that tone deaf leadership claims it remains the most important news outlet in the world.

And through that AP Stylebook, that may just be – for now. Stylebooks have long been considered journalism “Bible.” But it also enforces progressive orthodoxy with an incredibly long reach. This is one of the first textbooks that university journalism students will purchase.

That’s why the Trump administration should not continue banning the AP from the White House briefing. There are better, more honest news outlets worthy of these seats. But it should also give the AP Politico Pro treatment.

Thousands of government workers who write press releases and interact with the media are subscribing to the AP Style Book online. Not much subscription, but that’s it $30 a year. However, the messages the administration can send are invaluable. The AP is no longer the gatekeeper of the US news industry.

Still, an organization like the AP has a role when it serves as a support for news outlets rather than as an enforcer of a particular political perspective. The news outlet, still dedicated to objective journalism, fair and balanced reporting, is now beginning to collaborate.

I have been part of the AP for many years. And I saw a self-induced decline when it was happening. I don’t feel happy with the downfall, but I am not surprised either. And who is around to write that obituary?
