Rumors Swirl On Kevin Costner’s Return To ‘Yellowstone’ After ‘Horizon’ Flop

With Kevin Costner's “Horizon” series apparently on hiatus, rumors began circulating on Saturday that he might return to “Yellowstone.”

Costner released the first installment of Horizon: An American Saga in theaters on June 28. Due to poor box office results, the film was released on streaming services just over two weeks after its theatrical release. As if things couldn't get any worse for the project and Costner, Horizon: Chapter 2 was pulled 24 hours after its planned August release.

So what about Costner? He must make sure Horizon is a success or risk losing millions of dollars of his own net worth, which may work in his favor in some way with his recent divorce. Or he could return to Yellowstone and earn the support of his longtime fans, who would then perhaps return the love by supporting Horizon in a more meaningful way. A return to Yellowstone could be Costner's “redemption.” To tell Screen Rant.

In April, Costner said he was “hoping” to finish Yellowstone in its best possible form, rather than not finishing it at all. (Related: Want to visit Yellowstone? Here's how)

Costner requested an honorable death clause in his contract with Sheridan, ensuring that his character would not be killed off in trivial, embarrassing, or otherwise negative circumstances.[Dutton] I had to be proactive no matter what happened, and I had my own fantasy. [the character’s final arc] “It could happen,” Costner continued, “but that's Taylor's way. I said that to him a while ago. I've thought about how it could happen, but we'll just have to wait and see.”
