Russell Wilson Announces He’s Signing With Pittsburgh Steelers

Wilson will be joining the franchise on a team-friendly one-year contract, as the Broncos recently notified him of his release, paying him a total of $38 million in annual salary during his time with the Steelers. . Wilson posted a video of the Steelers, fans and the city of Pittsburgh on social media late Sunday night with the caption, “13th year. Thank you.”

With Denver's permission, Wilson traveled to Pittsburgh on Friday to meet with Steelers officials and spoke for more than six hours, as he remains under contract with the franchise until the start of the new league year. Wilson met with head coach Mike Tomlin and newly hired offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, among others. Wilson and Pittsburgh had mutual interest, and a deal was ultimately reached.


We can mine this connection, but only time will tell if it will work.

That being said, I hope so. I've been a fan of Russ since his days with the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, and I have ties to Pittsburgh (he lived in Pennsylvania for 10 years), so I'm rooting for him to do everything right.

But like I said…only time will tell if that actually happens.
