Safford – A suspected robbery in Safford was taken into custody Friday night after lead officers chased him at speed down Highway 70 towards Thatcher.
Police were dispatched to Dollar General at 1640 W. Thatcher Blvd. at about 8:13 p.m., according to a Safford news release. about armed robbery.
Before police arrived, Safford resident Isaiah Jacob Moran, 19, had already fled the area in a gold Chevrolet pickup truck.
A witness informed police of the truck’s location, and police overtook it as it was heading east on Route 70.
The truck led officers on a “long chase” throughout Safford, Thatcher, and unincorporated Graham counties, where officers used a “stopper” to puncture the vehicle’s tires and disable the truck. bottom.
No injuries were reported and the suspect was taken into custody. He is being held on $500,000 bail and is facing charges of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, and illegal escape with law enforcement. Safford police were assisted in the case by officers from the Thatcher Police Department and agents from the Graham County Sheriff’s Office.
