SAFORD — The City of Safford posted a notice on its website on Thursday that it is accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police.
Requirements include a high school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; At least 10 years of law enforcement experience, at least 3 years of which must be a licensed police officer with at least command level experience. Have a clear criminal record; and have a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Salaries for this position range from $105,000 to $129,000 per year. Positions remain open until filled.
Current chief Glenn Orr told the city council late last year of his intention to retire. He is expected to remain in that position until May at the latest.
Orr was promoted to Chief in May 2020 following the retirement of Joe Brugman. Orr is a veteran of the Safford Police Department where he served for 15 years and prior to serving with the Safford Police Department, he served as a Graham County Sheriff’s Deputy and Sergeant for 13 years.
