Flood Preparedness in Northern and Central Arizona
Communities across northern and central Arizona are preparing for potential flooding this weekend, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing a flood watch that starts at noon on Thursday, October 9th, and lasts until midnight on Sunday, October 12th. To help mitigate the impact, sandbags are being distributed in several areas.
Flagstaff
Self-filling sandbags can be found at Thorpe Park, located at the end of North Aztec Street.
Yavapai County
Some fire stations in Yavapai County are offering sandbags. Residents need to bring their own shovels.
- CAFMA Station 53, 8555 E. Yavapai Rd., Prescott Valley
- CAFMA Station 54, 13155 E. SR 169, Dewey-Humboldt
Williams
Sandbags are now available in the city garden, near the dog kennel, according to the local police station.
Verde Valley
In the Verde Valley, residents can find sandbags at the following locations:
- Yavapai County Verde Valley Public Works – 4000 W. Cherry Creek Rd., Camp Verde
- Lake Montezuma – 5235 N. Lookout Point Rd. (behind the Post Office)
- Verde Valley Fire Department 31 – 2700 E. Godard Rd., Cottonwood
- Verde Valley Fire Department 32 – 1120 S. Page Springs Rd., Cornville
- Verde Valley Fire Department 36 – 895 First South Street, Clarkdale
Sedona
In Sedona, sandbags can be purchased at four different locations:
- City of Sedona Grounds – 935 Upper Red Rock Loop Rd.
- City of Sedona Maintenance Yard – 2070 Contractors Rd. (available by appointment only; residents should call 203-5063)
- Uptown Public Parking – 260 Schnebly Rd.
- Sedona United Methodist Church – 110 Indian Cliffs Rd.
Kingman
Residents can fill their own sandbags at Kingman Fire Station 22. For further inquiries, they are encouraged to contact their local fire department regarding sandbag availability.
Globe
In Globe, sandbags can be found at these locations:
- Grove Public Works Yard: 150 Hagen Rd.
- Grove High School Parking Lot: 437 South High St.
- Dixon Locks and Materials: 1990 E. Ash Street.
- Gila County Public Works Grove: 1001 Besich Blvd.
