Alabama Supreme Court Associate Justice Sarah Stewart has received the support of a group of Alabama district attorneys in her candidacy for Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.

Mobile County Attorney Keith Blackwood, one of the officials who supported Stewart for chief justice, spoke of her abilities as a judge and the core values she brings to the court.
“Having prosecuted cases before Judge Stewart for years, I have seen firsthand how fair and strictly she follows the law,” said Mobile County Attorney Keith Blackwood. “When she prosecuted child victim cases before her, she said that if the defendant was found guilty of harming a child, Judge Stewart would sentence him to the maximum penalty given the circumstances. I knew.”
“Her conservative, family-oriented values continue to be a driving force in her pursuit of justice,” Blackwood added. “I encourage everyone to vote for Judge Sarah Stewart as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court on March 5th.”
Stewart will face Republican Brian Taylor, a former Alabama state senator and Army lawyer, in the March 5, 2024 Republican primary.
