After six wins, Flagstaff’s fortune finally ran off on Saturday. They lost a slightly lost Lee Williams volunteer with a 5-4 score. The Eagles were unable to repeat their success when they faced volunteers when they won 4-1 earlier this season.

Connor Smith was a force to be considered on the mound despite the final outcome. He gave up three runs from five hits, pitching five innings. He’s consistent lately. He has not given up on more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the plate, Christian Welker made the most of it with the bat despite the final result, stealing two bases, 3-for-3. As for the stolen base, he’s rolling because he hooks at least one in each of the last three games he’s played.

Flagstaff’s loss was his first defeat in the region, lowering the regional record to 5-1 and the overall record to 13-6. As for Lee Williams, they’ve played a lot recently as they won three of their last four games. This provided a big bump to a 7-8 record this season.

There will be a lot of interregional action soon. Flagstaff will face rival Bradshaw Mountain on Tuesday at 3:45pm. The two teams average little run (3.1 Eagles, 3.6 Bears), so the run they score is well scored. Meanwhile, Lee Williams is set to face familiar enemy Prescott at 3pm on Tuesday.
