U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent appeared on Fox Business on Thursday to discuss strategies aimed at reducing the regulatory burden that has plagued the economy in recent years.
Bescent with his commitment to strengthen economic growth and reduce financial pressure on American families. I said “Kudlow” states that his upcoming tax bills will stimulate the economy and create a culture of efficiency and accountability within the government.
“Changing the trajectory of national growth will change the debt dynamics and, as I always say, I am America’s leading bond salesman and I have a great story to tell,” Bescent told Larry Kudrow.
Bessent said the focus is transparent. It made tax cuts permanent, reduced energy costs, and critically reduced regulatory overreach.
“We’re completing this tax bill. It will increase the growth that is committed to eradicating government common sense, more efficiency, waste, fraud and inefficiency. So we’ll cut costs and make revenue. This is a great growth scenario. So we’ll make the tax cuts permanent,” Bescent said.
Bessent discussed the Biden administration’s policies. He said he built up on regulations that constrain business and economic activity. (Related: Scott Bessent breaks down the way tariffs bring $2.5 trillion, promising minimal impact on consumers)
“We cut energy costs. As you know better than anyone, one of the biggest costs for Americans in the last few years was the out-of-control regulations that the previous administration had made,” added Bescent. “So, in President Trump’s first term, the goal was to eliminate three regulations for everyone added. I think it’s seven to seven for everyone added.”
Bescent said he will work with Congress to make the 2017 tax cuts that began during President Donald Trump’s first term. He said expanding these cuts was the most pressing economic issue of the day. In support of this, the House passed a budget resolution extending Trump-era tax cuts through a major settlement bill.
