Former University of Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran has resigned from his position at the University of Georgia, officials reported. Report from Anthony Dasher.
Cochran was hired by Kirby Smart from Alabama to Georgia as the Bulldogs' special teams coordinator before the 2020 season.
Cochran was on Nick Saban's staff from the beginning of Saban's time in Tuscaloosa until 2019.
He was popular among fans and players alike because of his wild personality, and many suspect that was a big part of the mentality Alabama took into every game.
Cochran took a leave of absence from the Georgia program in 2021 and later said he was battling some addictions, but Posted in July He was celebrating two full years of sobriety.
He worked under Saban at LSU from 2001 to 2004.
Cochran is reportedly resigning to “pursue other opportunities,” according to a post from the University of Georgia.
There are questions as to whether he is still a good fit for the University of Alabama, but what is not in question is that Cochran has received great praise from both fans and players within the program.
