Scott Jennings Reacts to Jasmine Crockett’s Remarks About Charlie Kirk

Political Commentary Sparks Debate

CNN’s senior political commentator, Scott Jennings, criticized Rep. Jasmine Crockett during a segment on Sunday after she made remarks about Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA. Crockett appeared on the program “Union Status” and, while discussing the aftermath of Kirk’s murder, struggled to directly denounce a resolution condemning it. She expressed frustration that “two white men” sided against her, labeling Kirk’s rhetoric as “harmful” and “Confederate.”

Kirk was killed in Utah on September 10th, with authorities suspecting a motive linked to claims that he was promoting harmful actions. When host Dana Bash confronted Crockett regarding Kirk’s past statements, she escalated her critique, drawing parallels between him, President Donald Trump, and Adolf Hitler. Jennings’ response was straightforward: “Well, she’s lying.”

“Charlie Kirk did not target anyone. He was not a racist,” Jennings stated. He emphasized his familiarity with Kirk, noting he had attended many events with him. “Claiming he continuously targeted people of color is just a malicious smear, especially on a day meant for remembering him.”

Jennings continued to express his disbelief at Democratic figures like Ilhan Omar and Crockett for criticizing Kirk so harshly around the time of his funeral. “When we hear calls for unity and reducing divisive rhetoric, it’s shocking to see this kind of onslaught,” he remarked.

In a separate political dynamic, four Republicans sided with Democrats to block a resolution condemning Omar for comments she made during a September 11th appearance on Zeteo News. She had characterized those who defend Kirk’s campus image as “full of shit.”

Crockett has a history of provocative statements, including likening U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to “slave patrols” and previously defending the Trump-Hitler comparison on “Breakfast Club,” where she suggested that Trump supporters struggled with mental health issues and criticized Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
