SEC releases game windows for ’24 season to ease travel plans for fans

Alabama and Auburn fans who have struggled with travel plans in past years because game times were announced just a week or two before the game can now rejoice.

After announcing some game times during the SEC Spring Meeting in Sandestin, the SEC and new television partner ESPN are providing “windows” for all games and giving fans rough game times for games that have yet to be announced.

Essentially, the windows are divided into “Early,” “Flex,” and “Night.” If a match falls in the “Flex” window, the start time will be between the traditional 2:30 PM CST and 7:00 PM CST, and the match will not be played in the early slot.

Alabama has two games scheduled against Wisconsin and South Carolina at 11 a.m., while Auburn has two “early” games against Missouri and Vanderbilt scheduled to take place between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The Iron Bowl is in the “flex” window, as are most of Alabama's matchups for which specific dates are unknown. Alabama also plays Tennessee, Missouri, LSU and Oklahoma in the “flex” window.

It will be interesting to see which games ESPN places in their main primetime slots, as CBS' traditional start time for its main games is expected to change from 2:30pm.

Things are changing in the SEC in many ways, but having information on when games will be played helps us get one step closer to football season.
