Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff visits Yuma for campaign events

YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff traveled to Yuma County on Saturday to campaign for his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

The visit comes a week after first lady Dr. Jill Biden visited Yuma to campaign for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

With less than three weeks left until Election Day, reproductive rights and the nation’s economy were some of the topics Second Gentleman Emhoff touched on during his “Get Out the Vote” tour in Yuma County .

Emhoff cited “tax cuts” as one of the things Vice President Harris will focus on as president. [for] A tax credit to cover small business start-up costs, which is for over 100 million Americans, not just Elon Musk and his ilk. [and] Expand the child tax credit to make it easier to start a family. ”

Somerton City Councilman and Board of Education member Juan Castillo also spoke about what it means for Vice President Harris to choose Governor Walz as her running mate.

“Coach is a former educator himself and has fought for us throughout his career,” Castillo explained.

Nearly 300 area residents attended the rally, and Arizona Democratic Party Chair Yolanda Bejarano hoped events like the one in Somerton would motivate people to vote.

“It helps people understand that Vice President Harris cares about the community. She visits Arizona tirelessly,” Bejarano said.

But the tour didn’t end there. The second gentleman stopped at a local staple, Mr. G’s, before starting his canvas launch.

Emhoff’s final goal is to knock on some doors and talk to local voters, with one voter sharing that reproductive rights is a top focus for her, who has six granddaughters. did.
