YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – When it comes to election integrity and efficiency, the Arizona Secretary of State stopped by Yuma to discuss just that.
Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, along with Yuma County Recorder Richard Colwell and other local elected officials, reviewed progress in Yuma County's election functions.
“This is part of a statewide effort to ensure county governments have the services they need to conduct great elections, as we have done for years here in Arizona.” said. Adrian Fontes.
Mr. Fontes is here to ensure Yuma County's election infrastructure and election processes are on track by the 2024 presidential election cycle.
“Since the last presidential cycle, we’ve had a new recorder and a new election administrator, and 12 of our 15 counties have hired new people, but the good thing is, we still have a lot of very experienced staff. “We provide support, staff, and institutional knowledge that remains,” Fontes said.
During Mr. Fontes' visit, he met with leaders from the Board of Supervisors, the Recorder, Elections and Voter Services.
Yuma County Recorder Richard Colwell said he is confident his team will make the election a success.
“The election officials have been here for over 15 years and have served in all capacities so they will be available, but my goal is to have a very well run and efficient election without any issues,” Colwell said. Told.
The presidential election will be held on March 19th.
