In 2013, wildfires in Yarnell, Arizona, killed 19 firefighters in Granite Mountain, Arizona.

Prescott, Arizona – On June 30, 2013, 19 brothers, sons, fathers and husbands were killed in the Yarnell Hill fire in Yavapai County, Arizona. To remember his 19 deceased firefighters, a team of wilderness firefighters and law enforcement partners will begin work on him in November 2022 with a memorial event in honor of the Granite Mountain Hotshots. I planned.

On Friday, June 30, at 3:00 pm, the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial Team will host a public memorial at the Yavapai County Courthouse in Prescott. While the specific event details are still being worked out, the team has designed the event to end at 4:32pm on June 30th every year since 2013.

Details of the commemorative event will be announced as soon as the details are decided. The City of Prescott has created a public memorial website and will update that site as information becomes available.

Agencies participating in the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial Team include local, state, and federal collaborators. City of Prescott, Arizona Forest and Fire Department, Prescott Fire Department, Central Arizona Fire and Medical Department, Prescott National Forest, Bureau of Land Management, and various Phoenix area fire departments.
