Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival, in partnership with the Sedona Historical Society, is proud to celebrate Cowboy Days with a special screening of “Blood on the Moon” on Saturday, July 27th at 3pm in the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
This is the society's annual screening of vintage western movies produced in Sedona.
Join us for an afternoon of classic movie history and entertainment in Sedona.
Helmed by director Robert Wise and starring Robert Mitchum, Robert Preston and Barbara Bel Geddes, this tense Western noir thriller tells the story of a wandering gunslinger who finds himself hired as the bad guy.

When Jim Garry (Mitchum) rides into town on the Texas frontier, he soon finds himself embroiled in a simmering conflict between frontiersmen and ranchers. After accepting a job from his old friend and mercenary, Tate Reiling (Preston), Garry discovers that Reiling is exploiting tensions between rancher John Laughton (Tom Tully) and the local frontiersmen to cheat the Laughton family out of their livestock. Torn between his conscience and greed, Garry finds himself falling for John Laughton's fearsome daughter, Amy (Bel Geddes). The two old friends soon face off in a bloody showdown where only one will survive. Based on the novel “A Gunman's Chance” by Luke Short.
Parts of the movie were shot in California, and there are plenty of beautiful shots of Red Rock Crossing and Cathedral Rock.
Before the screening, dynamic duo Clancy Sage and John Conway will talk about the film, reveal some of the history of filming here and share their on-set anecdotes.
Tickets are $20 each. Proceeds will benefit the Society's historic Schuerman Homestead House restoration project. Door prizes are also available.
