The village is full of stories if you listen. It may tell a story about a prominent factory manager who had a dream in Latin one night and abandoned his career for an old book and a telescope. Or the story of a farmer who builds a beautiful fence but struggles to control his fleshly desires, leading to a fierce revenge. And also about the giant policeman and his skinny son cutting out wild birds, the dances at the community center, the fancy dinner parties, and the carved rocks that cut the finely woven threads of life.

“I vividly remember the hypnotic effect I had the first time I read John Cullman's brilliantly woven tapestry of anecdotes,” Adalsteins said. “His lyrical prose and unique insight into the depths of the human heart made me feel as deeply connected to all the characters in this seaside village as the one in which I was born and raised.”
