Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to announce the Northern Arizona premiere of “Girls Will Be Girls,” screening October 4-10 at the Alice Gill Sheldon Theatre.
At a strict boarding school nestled in the Himalayas, Meera is a bright student with high expectations from her parents and teachers. But as she struggles with new desires and an insatiable curiosity inspired by a handsome pickpocket, she begins to rebel against the school's strict rules and her mother's relentless interference with her new romance.
As Mira struggles to find time alone with Suri, away from the watchful eyes of her teachers, mother and classmates, she approaches learning about love with the same zeal she brings to her studies, leading to conclusions that are at times humorous and shocking.
While Girls Will Be Girls is a beautiful coming-of-age story, the characters' romance is a nuanced exploration of female desire, examining how a conservative culture keeps women trapped under strict expectations and norms.
