Sedona Hires New Sustainability Manager

Following a nationwide recruitment, the City of Sedona has hired our own Bryce Beck as our new Sustainability Manager. Oversee the city’s sustainability program, including planning, organizing and implementing projects and initiatives.

Beck has been working as the City’s Sustainability Coordinator since September 2021 and has over six years of experience in climate mitigation and adaptation. Bryce said he is excited about the opportunity to lead the sustainability program and help advance a more sustainable future for the city of Sedona.

Beck holds a Master of Science in Climate Science and Solutions, a Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation Management, and a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional License from Northern Arizona University (NAU), with 13 years of project coordination and supervision. I’m involved in more than that. Beck also has experience in carbon accounting, watershed restoration, climate mitigation, communications and outreach.

Beck developed Sedona’s municipal and community greenhouse gas inventories and the city’s first home energy retrofit program. Additionally, he produced his 2020 Sustainability Leadership Award, the Climate Justice webinar, and NAU’s State of Climate Action Forums.

Beck said his goals in this new role will continue the momentum he has created over the past two years to continue fostering a culture of sustainability, inclusivity, diversity, and collaboration; and to advocate for the involvement of
