Household electronics, small battery waste, and medical waste are collected by urban partners Westech Recyclers, Veolia, and Ponderosa Medical. Additionally, guaranteed document destruction involves paperwork trucks on-site.
Disposal of electronics, batteries, and medical waste in landfills can contaminate drinking water and kill wildlife.
Throwing down electronic devices can waste billions of dollars of recoverable materials, including gold, silver, coltan, copper, palladium, platinum and other valuable metals. Paper documents can be recycled into new products, reducing the need to reduce forests for paper production. Proper disposal is important to protect human and environmental health.
The event is considered a limited collection event in that the city does not accept items such as paints and light bulbs, just as it does during a home hazardous waste collection event. The next household hazardous waste collection event is scheduled to take place in October.
For more information about the limited collection event, please contact the city’s Sustainability Department at sustainability@sedonaaz.gov. www.sedonaaz.gov/waste-collection.
