The Government Finance Officials Association (GFOA) awarded the City of Sedona and its Department of Financial Services with the Outstanding Budget Presentation Award for the City’s FY23 budget. This is the 10th time the city has received the award.

Sedona, Arizona
This award represents an important achievement for the city. This reflects the commitment of the City Council and staff to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting. To win the budget award, the city had to meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well the city’s budget functions as a policy document, financial plan, operational guide, and means of communication. To receive this award, a budget document must be rated “proficient” in all four of his categories and 14 mandatory criteria within those categories.
“The GFOA sets the standard for transparency in the communication of budget information. We are honored to receive the award for the 10th year in a row,” said City Manager Karen Osburn.
The Budget Awards program has over 1,700 participants. The most recent budget award winners and their corresponding budget documents can be found at: www.gfoa.org. The awardees have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and set an excellent example for other governments across North America.
GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources and hands-on research to its more than 22,500 members and their communities.
