Semi-Trailer Crash Covers Utah Highway In Millions Of French Fries

A semi-trailer crashed Sunday in Provo, Utah, sending millions of French fries across the highway, according to KSL Television.

Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol reported that the truck was carrying dozens of crates of French fries while driving on Interstate 15 near 1450 North. according to to KSL TV. The truck collided late in the afternoon, spilling boxes across the highway, affecting both northbound and southbound highway traffic. Police believe the accident was caused by the driver losing control of the vehicle.

“The semi-truck rolled across the left lane and appears to have hit the barrier here. It’s the inside barrier,” said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. According to KSL TV, Devin Gurney said:

Officials said the debris had set back miles on both sides of the highway, the newspaper reported.

The cleanup took several hours, with officials removing boxes of French fries and damaged vehicles. Gurney said fortunately there were no injuries given the scale of the accident and that the damage to the vehicle was caused by debris and not the crash itself, KSL TV reported.

Utah Department of Public Safety report In 2023, there have been a total of 30,539 crashes so far, 73.7% of which resulted in no injuries.
