Update (2:40 p.m.) – The City of Yuma announced in an Instagram post that the Yuma Fire Department (YFD) is supporting the Imperial County Fire Department fire.
The fire involved a semi-trailer and related equipment used in road construction.
Parks in the area were temporarily closed, and as of 2 p.m., the fire had been extinguished and the parks would reopen soon, YFD said.
WINTER HAVEN, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma Fire Department has announced that a semi-trailer containing hazardous materials is on fire on Interstate 8 near Winter Haven.
The fire started directly under the bridge, near Exit 170 on Interstate 8 towards Winterhaven Drive.
YFD is currently on the scene of a mutual aid request from Imperial County for a semi-trailer fire involving hazardous materials on Interstate 8 just west of Yuma. Avoid that area.

Abraham Retana said eastbound Interstate 8 was closed to traffic and the Yuma Fire Department advised people to avoid the area.
