Senator Katie Britt revisits Enterprise High School to give the graduation speech, encouraging graduates: ‘God asks you to tackle difficult challenges’

Senator Katie Britt Returns to Hometown for Graduation Speech

US Senator Katie Britt made a visit to her hometown to deliver the commencement address for the class of 2025 at Enterprise High School, where she herself graduated 25 years earlier.

Speaking at Wildcat Stadium, Britt (R-Montgomery) shared a message centered around gratitude, perseverance, and the strength of the local community.

“It’s a real honor to be back here with all of you tonight,” Britt remarked. “For those who know me, my top priorities are my relationship with my Lord, my family, and my roots right here.”

Britt emphasized her connection to the Enterprise community, stating, “This place means a lot to me, and I believe it does to you as well. It’s where I was raised, and the foundation of my faith here is what makes us stronger and more united.”

She celebrated the accomplishments of her audience, noting that a total of 517 graduates had completed numerous career and technical education courses, acquiring 578 industry-recognized credentials.

Two students were named National Merit Finalists and Scholars, while 43 seniors received athletic scholarships. Britt highlighted that the boys’ soccer teams had reached the 7A state semifinals or championships at least once during their time in high school, and the school also qualified for the Alabama Honorary Band.

In total, graduates secured $1.75 million in scholarships and educational benefits, with the top 19% boasting GPAs over 4.0. Britt took a moment to acknowledge those students entering military service or pursuing military education.

“I truly believe no community understands the value of service members quite like we do,” she said. “We owe you so much gratitude, and we thank you for your commitment.”

In sharing personal stories, Britt encouraged students to embrace setbacks and view them as stepping stones. She candidly recounted early disappointments in her career, including struggles in university leadership roles and the unexpected closure of the law firm where her legal career began.

“When I first entered the race for the Senate, my opponent had a 65% approval rating, while I was polling with just a couple of supporters,” she shared. “It was a tough road. Disappointments happen, but often, they are essential to your future success.”

Britt’s message to the graduates centered on resilience and tenacity. “I hope each of you promises that when challenges arise, you stand tall and push through because that’s what you’re called to do.”

She reminded students that success isn’t just about achievements but also about relationships, character, and a commitment to serving others.

“Being kind costs nothing, and how you treat others is crucial,” she advised. “Make sure your words, actions, and time are all intentional.”

As she wrapped up her address, Britt expressed pride and confidence in the class of 2025.
