Serial child rapist sentenced to 20 years in prison

Safford – A man who molested two children over four years will spend the next 20 years in prison.

Bonita resident Dustin Luther Todd, 41, said in May that a judicial decision to dismiss six of eight charges of sex with a minor and amend one to attempted rectification. was trading.

Earl Todd has admitted to committing acts against minors between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2019. Todd pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a minor (a second-degree felony and dangerous crime against children), and attempted sexual activity. Graham County Deputy County Attorney Stephen Randell prosecuted the case on behalf of the state, and Todd was represented by Attorney Josi Lopez.

Todd’s plea deal stipulates probation for the attempted crime, but a sitting judge will decide how long he will be in prison based on the more serious offense.

On Monday, June 19, Graham County Superior Court Judge Pro Tem Travis W. Ragland said mitigating factors such as not being convicted of a felony, the support of friends and family, and acceptance of responsibility, as well as the damage caused. Judge Ragland, who is facing a sentence of 13 to 27 years in prison, sentenced Todd to an estimated 20 years in prison, suspended for 165 days. The sentence is temporary and Todd faces a full 20 years in prison. After his sentencing, Todd was taken back to the Graham County Adult Detention Facility and transferred to ASPC Phoenix on Wednesday, June 21 to begin his sentence.

Upon his release (tentatively set for December 31, 2042), Todd will be placed on life probation as a sex offender under the supervision of the Graham County Adult Probation Service.
