Serie A Postpones Entire Slate Of Games After Death Of Pope Francis

After Pope Francis got sick and was placed in the hospital due to double pneumonia, he eventually saw him die at the age of 88, the Italian top soccer league decided to postpone the entire match on Monday.

According to an announcement of a Twitter post from the Italian football league, a total of four games in Serie A were given postponement and pushed to another date. (Related: Pope Francis died in 1988, mourning the Catholic Church, and reflecting on the world assuming the potential successor)

“After his sacredness passed away, Legga Nagyonale’s professional Serie A can confirm that today’s league game in Serie A and Primavera 1 has been postponed,” read the post. “The dates for the relocated equipment will be announced soon.”

The postponed matches were Cagliari and Fiorentina, Parma and Juventus, Torino and Udinese, Genoa and Lazio.

The game was scheduled until Wednesday, April 23rd.

Pope Francis died only on Monday morning one day After appearing at St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City, showing his honor towards the Easter holidays.

Francis blessed thousands of people while he was on the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica.
