Shane Gillis Is Objectively Funny On ‘SNL,’ So Obviously Corporate Media Is Throwing A Tantrum

Comedian Shane Gillis was definitely entertaining as a recent guest host on “Saturday Night Live,” but it's clear why the corporate media seems to hate him so thoroughly.

Gillis made headlines in 2019 when he was fired from SNL shortly after being hired as a writer. The unamused crowd went wild over his past jokes, which they deemed “racist,” “homophobic” and “sexist.” That said, Gillis didn't seem to have much resistance during his activities. opening monologue Saturday night featured some organic commentary and some of his viral stand-up routines.

In just eight minutes, Gillis was called a “bitch,” “retard,” and “cracker” by little boys, who teased her about being best friends with their mother, who was “gay,” so clearly the corporate news media was disappointed. I hated it. NPR claimed Gillis was “disappointed” with the monologue, which he was never. He admitted he was nervous and yelled at the audience, but it was completely hysterical.

“Most of you don't know who I am. I was actually fired from this show a while ago. Don't look that up. If you don't know who I am, don't Google it. Please. It's okay. There's no need to worry,” he joked. “I probably shouldn't be here.” (Related: Dave Chappelle invites canceled 'SNL' comic to stage; Next up is Pure Gold)

The Hollywood Reporter and Vulture Felt Gillis said, “unpleasant” But even so, that's his kind of humor. The cringe works because he's good at making fun of himself. People who take themselves too seriously are less likely to appreciate this type of comedy because they lack the self-awareness to humorously reflect on their own shortcomings.

When it comes to skits, in my opinion the most unexpectedly funny one so far is “church on vacation” features an Ohio family attending a very typical Jamaican Sunday service.

If irreverent humor is your thing, Gillis will definitely not disappoint you with his performances in other skits such as:personnel meeting” and “trump sneakers

But the skit that made me scream and laugh was definitely “rock bottom kings,” Fake advertisement for a betting site where you can bet on your friend's gambling addiction.

It felt like Gillis learned most of his lines for the show. He doesn't seem to rely on prompt cards as much as the cast members, and clearly took the time and effort to do a good job. The cold atmosphere and some of the skits about Gillis felt like they were written in protest of his Republican-leaning fan base, but they weren't clever enough to offend. I'm sure many people will air their feelings about his appearance on the show, but I don't understand why anyone has the time to worry about something like this. No one would look to the Gillis to solve the world's problems. And Gillis isn't going anywhere. His job is literally to make us laugh. So sit back, shut up, and enjoy the time he spent doing just that.
