‘She Was Very Disingenuous’: 5 Times ‘The Breakfast Club’ Callers Clashed With Charlamagne As He Defended Harris

Performers on the popular hip-hop radio show “The Breakfast Club” frequently criticized Vice President Kamala Harris during her brief 2024 presidential campaign, and host Charlamagne Tha God urged him to defend her.

Ms. Harris did not give a sit-down interview for more than a month after launching her campaign, and largely avoided interviews during October before giving friendly media blitzes and other interviews. After the campaign began, “The Breakfast Club” listeners were often called onto the show to scrutinize her, especially after she participated in unscripted events such as debates and interviews with President-elect Donald Trump. But Charlamagne has typically pushed back against criticism of the Democratic Party, which has grown since Harris’ loss in the Nov. 5 election. Charlamagne refused to endorse President Joe Biden in May, but claimed He endorsed Harris on July 21, saying he “absolutely supports” her shortly after the president left office. On August 21, the whistleblower confronted Charlamagne for supporting Harris despite her record as vice president.

“Why are you guys so obsessed with Kamala? I mean, you guys are head over heels in love with this woman. She’s been the vice president for almost four years and she’s done absolutely nothing. ” said the caller. “And then she copies and pastes President Trump’s ‘no tax on tips’ line and everyone falls for it. I mean, it’s ridiculous. What the hell is going on? ?…So, Charlamagne, you are guilty as well. So, not you. [DJ] I’m so jealous, because you’re 50/50, and I get it. But Charla, you know. ”

“Actually, I’ve supported the vice president since 2020…I campaigned with her a few times in 2020. I like her message of rebuilding the middle class,” Charlamagne responded. Ta. “Don’t you want the opportunity to own a small business? Don’t you want the opportunity to own a home? Don’t you want to see more money in the pockets of working-class people? And I think she I like the fact that she’s generously putting her own money behind mental health, $285 million to increase the number of mental health professionals in schools… She’s putting forward some policies that I can support. I have.”

After Harris’ debate against Trump on September 10, a black immigrant caller from New York named Al challenged Harris’ stance on immigration on the air the next day.

“First of all, let me say I love you all. I listen to you every morning. And I’m Black and I’m an immigrant. But I don’t want to say that Kamala doesn’t support me or doesn’t answer my questions. It’s true that everyone is saying there isn’t,” Al said. “I watched the same debate, and when they talked about immigration, half the reason all these immigrants are in New York and other states for that purpose is because of her.”

“Listen, I don’t understand why you would put the blame on one person as if the border hadn’t been an issue under any administration for years. That’s why Donald Trump doesn’t want to push through bipartisan legislation. “He was able to create it because he knew it would give Democrats a win,” Charlamagne said. “Then I don’t understand why we act as if one person caused the border issue.”

Harris then gave an interview on FOX News’ “Special Report on Bret Bayer” on October 16th. The next day, Charlamagne again defended Harris, even though the caller claimed the vice president had performed poorly.

“I watched the Bret Baier and Kamala Harris interview last night… and she stuttered and criticized Trump,” the caller said. “She didn’t really have answers to all the questions Bret Baier asked her.”

“Well, I have to say I disagree with you. I thought the Bret Baier interview was great. You know what I mean? She answered every question. I thought I answered,” Charlamagne retorted. “You just don’t want to agree with her answers, but she answered all the questions.”

The caller interrupted Charlamagne and claimed that Harris was “evasive” and “she was very dishonest in all her answers.”

On Oct. 18, another caller named Tank accused Harris of not answering questions “directly” during a Fox News interview, but Charlamagne said it wasn’t Harris who was dodging the question. He claimed to be Trump.

“So, after watching the interview with Kamala Harris on Fox, I think my question was directed at the whole ‘Breakfast Club’ thing…where she was bombarded with every question and nothing directly.” How can we support her anymore if she didn’t answer?” And like all of us Americans, we want to know the specifics, the breakdown, the details of what she’s going to propose on the policy front. I just want to,” Tank said. “And instead of getting bogged down by these questions, why not just bombard us with these specifics so she can convince the American people to vote for her? You just don’t see it.”

“You know, it’s interesting that people say that, because she presents an opportunity economy plan every chance she gets, and then when she does it, she gets ridiculed. Like, even though I’m listening to her dance, even though I’m hearing her answering the question directly, she says she’s dancing around the question.” Charlamagne told Tank. “But Trump literally said verbally that he called himself a ‘weave,’ starts in one place, talks, talks, talks, talks, gets you to another place, unless you’re talking about what he’s talking about. I told you I was doing something I would never go back to.” He wants to do that. He literally said that to you on my husband, Andrew Schultz’s podcast, but no one brought it up and he said he wouldn’t directly answer the question. why is that? “

Additionally, an undecided voter named Jason called into the show on Election Day and claimed he had “not heard anything about policy” from Harris during the campaign.

Mr Charlamagne dismissed the claim, saying Mr Jason could not have “listened” to Harris, but insisted the person on the other end of the phone had been listening “very hard”.

The radio host asserted that “there’s no way” Jason hadn’t heard her policy platform.

“That conversation on election morning, you haven’t heard any policy yet? Brother, you haven’t, with all due respect,” Charlamagne said, just as Jason stopped answering the phone. I added it after seeing it.
