Newsmax political analyst Mark Halperin warned Tuesday that with less than three weeks until the election, Vice President Kamala Harris is running out of time to shape her image.
Harris told her co-host “The View” on Oct. 8 that she has “nothing in mind” about how she would govern differently than President Joe Biden. Halperin said on “Wake Up America” that Harris has failed to “differentiate herself from Joe Biden” throughout the campaign and has limited her public appearances. She said she believes this allows others to shape voters’ perceptions of her. (Related: CNN panel ‘surprised’ Kamala Harris couldn’t point to anything different from Biden)

“Ultimately, I think what she said about putting Republicans in the Cabinet is so vague that it doesn’t make any sense, whether her supporters think that or her critics think that. “If people think that, she needs to define herself as different than Joe Biden,” Halperin said. “I don’t think she’s done it yet, and a lot of voters have doubts, even people who are probably inclined to vote for her.”
“She has a lot of things lined up, including a possible Joe Rogan appearance as reported by Reuters. You know, she’s late in the game when it comes to defining herself. Her staff… That’s right. It was a simple campaign, but when you look at her schedule, there were many days with one event, zero events, and a lot of staff meetings,” he continued. “And if the goal is to define herself, she would rather have someone else do it for her than do it herself, hour by hour.”
Democrats, including some of Harris’ own staff, expressed concerns to Politico. article reported on October 5 that Harris’ media avoidance strategy and limited campaign schedule could backfire in the final months of the campaign. Shortly after, she began a media blitz consisting mostly of friendly interviews.
“I think some people are panicking. It’s mostly existential fear. They want to see her performance level increase, because they want to see her take command in this contest. “Because I want to see her, and I mean, she’s doing well every day, and even though she’s doing great, she’s not making much news — a profile interview,” Halperin added. “So I think if we get another bad poll, panic will set in in some areas. Right now, they seem to be trying to convince themselves between voting activity and abortion rights. [former President] Trump’s limits, they will still win. ”
Mr. Trump currently holds a narrow lead over Ms. Harris in six of the seven key states, with the vice president holding only a slight lead in Wisconsin. According to RealClearPolling average.
David Axelrod, former President Barack Obama’s chief campaign strategist, said Thursday that Democrats are “justifiably concerned” about the possibility of Harris running against Trump in November. He credited the Trump campaign with being “very disciplined in the media” and claimed the campaign was intended to portray Harris as an “heir to Biden economics” and an “exotic left-wing radical.” did.
“They’ve baked that message in, and I think that’s had some impact,” Axelrod said.
