Shots fired in parking lot at Downtown Yuma

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – A suspect was arrested Thursday morning after a shooting occurred in a parking lot in downtown Yuma.

The Yuma Police Department (YPD) has responded to reports of a shot being fired in an Allento parking lot at approximately 12:26 am on Thursday, February 23.

The suspect fled the scene and was located on Fifth Avenue and Orange Avenue, according to the YPD.

YPD identified the suspect as 29-year-old Jose Ortiz Jr. and arrested him.

Ortiz has been charged with multiple felonies, including attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a lethal weapon, endangerment, disorderly conduct, and possession of a weapon as a prohibited owner.

No injuries were reported, but one vehicle reported gunshot damage.

This case is still under active investigation.
