A Scottish dog luckily survived after mistaking a common bath toy for a not-so-tasty treat and eating eight rubber ducks.
Labrador Benji is spending a sunny June day in the pool cooling off, and the day’s exercise seems to have given him a good appetite. Sneaking into her family’s garage, Benji stumbles upon a bag of pool toys containing rubber ducks, then drops eight of them without his owner, Sandra the Miller’s knowledge. . report.
Later, during an evening walk, Benji ate a lot of grass and revisited a partially eaten duck, giving Sandra the first indication that something was wrong, the outlet continued. “He got sick twice more when we got home, the second time he raised four ducks,” Sandra told the Mirror.

“He brought in two more the next day and they were still eating, drinking and going to the bathroom normally,” Sandra added. “Then, around 6:30 p.m., he felt sick all over the living room, and we knew there was something more serious going on.” (Related: ‘Psychogull’: British seabird Rob Stoners gets high on synthetic weeds)
A visit to a veterinarian in Edinburgh revealed that the last rubber duck was stuck in Benji’s stomach, and was in serious danger of needing emergency surgery. “The duck was removed from the middle part of Benji’s intestine, called the jejunum. If he hadn’t had the surgery, there’s no question that it could have been life-threatening.” It was in danger,” surgeon Fiona Selby told The Mirror.
Benji’s surgery was successful and Sandra was relieved and within days she was back to normal, she told the media.
“Benji is such a wonderful person,” said Sandra. “He’s just a riot and definitely a one-off. He’s also really, really cunning when it comes to eating things he shouldn’t. Believe it or not, he once, his son I once successfully unzipped Yuan’s school bag and ate all his homework, although this is one of the few instances where the ‘dog ate my homework’ excuse actually turned out to be true. I have no doubt.”
