Sidney Crosby Inks 2-Year Extension With Pittsburgh Penguins That Features Average Annual Value Of $8.7 Million

Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas Announced The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Monday that they have agreed to a two-year contract extension with their superstar captain. Sidney Crosby.

Crosby is a three-time Stanley Cup champion, having won in 2009, 2016 and 2017. The 2024-25 season will mark Crosby's 20th season in a Pittsburgh uniform, a franchise record, and his 18th season as team captain, making him the second-longest tenured captain in NHL history behind Steve Yzerman, who served 19 years with the Detroit Red Wings.

The 37-year-old has been named an NHL All-Star 10 times and is the recipient of numerous awards, including three Ted Lindsay Awards, two Hart Memorial Trophies, two Art Ross Trophies, two Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophies, two Conn Smythe Trophies and one Mark Messier Leadership Award. He also holds several Penguins franchise records.

Crosby's career numbers are 592 goals, 1,004 assists and 1,596 points.
