Sierra Vista, Ariz. (KGUN) – A 73-year-old man from Sierra Vista was killed Friday, May 12, after a domestic violence incident turned fatal, with one of the shots hitting him. arrested. police vehicle.
A suspect, identified as Gerald Adams, was arrested at the 5200 block of Via Serena.
Around 10 p.m., officers received a call that Adams was “trying to vandalize the house and shoot everyone.”
Sierra Vista police arrived within minutes, set up a perimeter around the home and neighborhood, and advised residents to evacuate the area.
The woman who made the call was able to leave her home safely and was escorted to a safe location.
Officers attempted to approach Mr Adams, who fired three shots from his home, hitting the patrol car. I was not injured.
Negotiations continued until after 11:00 p.m., when Mr. Adams left the house of his own accord.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, domestic violence aggravated assault, and criminal damages. His bail is $300,000 and he is being held at the Cochise County Jail.
