Want your kids to get outside and enjoy some physical activity? Well, this summer, JD3 Fitness has partnered with the best activity coordinators to bring you some of the Gila Valley’s hottest youth-centric businesses. offered a summer camp focused on This class is designed for adolescents, one group aged 5-9 and another group aged 10-14.
Class 1 – Airborne Camp Orientation
The first day of camp is May 30th and will take place at Airborne, a new parkour and trampoline facility on SUS Highway 191 3822, south of Safford. Owner Justin Collins will be on hand to introduce the new facility.
Class Times: Groups ages 5-9: 3-5pm. 10-14 year old group: 5-7pm
Class 2 – Sinew Athletics with Ernesto Llamas
The second class of camp will be held on June 2nd at the Graham County Fairgrounds. Ernesto Lamas, a strength and conditioning coach, will host a class that will showcase an eight-week training program starting June 5. His programs are designed for a wide range of ages and specialize in sport-specific fitness training and mobility.
Class Times: Groups 5-9 years old: 8am-9:15am. 10-14 year old group: 9:30-11:00
Class 3 – Basketball Camp
In Class 3, children will learn the basics of basketball through practice and competition on June 5th. The location is undecided.
Class Times: Groups 5-9 years old: 9-10-30am. 10-14 year old group: 11am-12:30pm
Class 4 – Desert Dogs wrestling with Philip Ornelas and Manny Jurado
The fourth class of camp will visit Desert Dogs Wrestling at 801 South Central Avenue in Safford on June 9th. Founders Philip Ornelas and Manny Jurado will lead the class as they introduce the hottest wrestling club in the Gila Valley.
Class Times: Groups 5-9 years old: 3-4pm. 10-14 year old group: 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Class 5 – Soccer with John Archuleta
The fifth class of camp will return to the Graham County Fairgrounds on June 15th, where John Archuleta will lead us for a fun day of introducing the fundamentals of football through technique and practice. Each participant is given his own soccer ball.
Class Times: Groups 5-9 years old: 8am-9:15am. 10-14 year old group: 9:30am – 11:00am
Class 6 competition cornhole
Hit the beanbags in competitive cornhole on June 19th from 9am-11am in 6 classes for all ages.
Class 7 – Extreme Karate Martial Arts by Chad Jones
In Class 7, Chad Jones will give a special martial arts instruction on June 21st at 514 W. 7th St. One lucky participant will have the chance to win a 3-month free membership.
Class Times: 5-9 year old group: 9-10:30 am. 10-14 year old group: 10:30am-12:00pm
Class 8 – Basketball Day Camp
For Class 8, children will learn the basics of basketball on June 28th through practice and competition. The location is undecided.
Class Times: Groups 5-9 years old: 9-10-30am. 10-14 year old group: 11am-12:30pm
Class 9 – Airborne Parkour
Learn proper technique from Gila Valley’s best technicians. Classes are held July 1st at 3822 SUS Highway 191 at 8-9 am for ages 5-9 and 9-10 am for ages 10-14.
Class 10 – Competitive Cornhole
Jump beanbags in competitive cornhole on July 3rd in Class 10 for all ages from 9-11am.
Class 11 – Big Star Gymnastics by Sarah McDougal
For Class 11, Dekai Stars Gymnastics owner Sarah McDougall will showcase one of Gila Valley’s most popular attractions at her facility on July 5, giving children an introduction to gymnastics and tumbling. provide a class. Classes are held at the gymnastics studio located at 2281 W. Thatcher Blvd. at Thatcher.
Class Times: Groups 5-9 years old: 2-3pm. 10-14 year old group: 3:30pm – 4:30pm
Class 12 – Soccer with John Archuleta
The 12th class of camp will return to the Graham County Fairgrounds on July 12th, where John Archuleta will lead us through a fun-filled day introducing the fundamentals of football through technique and practice. Each participant is given his own soccer ball.
Class Times: Groups 5-9 years old: 8am-9:15am. 10-14 year old group: 9:30am – 11:00am
Class 13 – Soccer
Class 13 will be held on July 19th at the Graham County Fairgrounds and Cody Taylor will demonstrate basic drills and fun competitions aimed at teaching the importance of teamwork. For safety, participants are separated by age.
Class Times: Groups 5-9 years old: 8am-9:15am. 10-14 year old group: 9:30-11:00
The 14th Airborne Summer Farewell Party
We will end summer camp on July 24th with a summer send-off at Airborne, SUS Highway 191 3822.
The party is open to all summer camp participants and runs from 10am to 12pm.
Pricing
Fees are $200 for campers attending 8 classes or more, and $175 per additional child. Alternatively, campers with seven or fewer classes she attends will pay just $125, and additional campers he will cost $100 per person.
