‘Simply Not True’: Joe Manganiello Refutes Sofia Vergara’s Allegations Regarding Their Divorce

“The press always says I want a family. That's a total lie. I tried to have a family for the first year and a half,” he told Men's Journal. “And we had a lot of conversations right away, within the first month of dating. I said, 'If you don't want any more kids, I understand. Just tell me, and I'll know what that means, and that's OK.' But she didn't, and I swore to myself that if it didn't work out, I'd never break up with her. And I didn't.”

Manganiello stressed that their separation was the result of a mutual growing apart, not an ultimatum about having children, and he expressed concern about being portrayed as someone who demanded children so soon after marriage, a charge he emphatically denied.

“To be portrayed as if I was having a midlife crisis and nine years later I gave someone an ultimatum: 'If you do anything that might be bad for your body, I'm gone,' is not who I am,” Manganiello explained.
