The House of Representatives has gone full steam ahead this week to get the country back on track. The Judiciary Commission heard from victims and field personnel about the devastating effects of the border crisis. The House also passed two laws to reinstate federal employees to public service and condemn the devastating ideology of socialism. Additionally, he was proud to celebrate his 200th anniversary of the Woodstock Fire Department and enjoyed meeting with voters across the Capitol. The president is scheduled to address the nation during his State of the Union address next week. From sky-high inflation to open borders to soaring energy prices, House Republicans will continue to work for the American people as they face a multi-faceted crisis caused by Joe Biden’s incompetence.
Restore law and order and protect national borders
Restoring law and order in America begins with securing our southern border. The House Judiciary Committee, which oversees the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, has initiated the first of many hearings about the Biden administration’s disastrous treatment of the southern border. I heard from a father who lost his 15-year-old son to fentanyl poisoning by drug dealers selling counterfeit drugs. If the administration does not come to the table to amend these policies, there will be consequences for DHS Director Alejandro Mayorcas, especially for neglecting his duty to protect his homeland. Border Security and Security ActThis would require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to turn away illegal immigrants who do not have valid documents to enter the United States, while requiring the detention of lawful asylum applicants as adjudication progresses. The President’s Delayed Budget and Fiscal Crisis
President Biden plans to submit the budget for the third year in a row by missing the first Monday deadline in February, delaying the budget process. Equally troubling is that the president and his administration have shown no intention of providing a balanced budget. As Chair of the Republican Commission of Inquiry Budget and Appropriations Task Force, I, along with his RSC Chairman Rep. We called for prompt action on the process. The national debt is over his $31.4 trillion, which is the current limit.with the new 118th Congress, Democrats and Republicans should use this opportunity to correct the fiscal trajectory of our unsustainable nation, but we can’t get the ball rolling until the president submits a budget to Congress. The President needs to do his job so we can get to work.
denounce the horrors of socialism
For decades, the acceptance of socialist ideology around the world has resulted in evil regimes denying their citizens their basic human rights and subjecting them to imprisonment and abuse. Socialism causes tragic human tragedies such as hunger, torture, and genocide that claim her more than 100 million lives worldwide. I am pleased that the House passed his H. Con. Resolution 9 describes some of the horrors perpetuated by socialist regimes, condemns all forms of socialism, and speaks out against implementing socialist policies in the United States. We must explicitly reject socialism that runs counter to American values and our founding fathers’ belief in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This resolution makes clear that dangerous, socialist, un-American policies must never be realized in our great nation.
SHOW UP act
Americans have suffered because of the federal government’s pernicious pandemic-era telework policies. We heard from many voters in the district about how they were adversely affected by federal agencies allowing taxpayer-funded employees to stay home. federal employees must adhere to the same standards. Therefore, the House of Peoples passed Bill HR 139. show up actWe need to end telework for federal employees and go back to the office to work the way hardworking Americans do every day. America needs to get back to work, and so should the federal government.
Woodstock Fire Department 200th anniversary
Happy to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the all-volunteer Woodstock Fire Department. With its history dating back to 1823, the department has served the Shenandoah Valley as one of the oldest federal and national departments. The department now has his 40 active volunteers and is led by Captain Zach Hottel, a third-generation volunteer. The Woodstock Fire Department will hold a “Bicentennial Celebration” at the Woodstock Fire Department to mark its founding on February 8, 1823. We thank the firefighters and fire department personnel for their service and wish them well for the next 200 years in the Valley.
