‘Slide The Knife On My Throat’: 7-Year-Old Girl Fights Off Attacker, Puts Neighbor Holding Her In Tears With Comment

A 7-year-old girl said she fended off an assailant who held a knife to her throat in a Detroit park earlier this week.

Detroit police said the incident occurred on Tuesday. According to To WXYZ Detroit. The girl, Saida M., was at the park with her family.

She told the outlet that a man approached her while she was playing. He then attacked her with a knife.

“And one hand was empty,” Saida continued. “And he just raised my head. The other one was a pocket knife. And he slipped the knife into my throat. I kicked him in the leg with medium force. .”

Police said Saida screamed for help and ran away from her attacker.

“She did what she had to do,” Detroit Police Commander Vernal Newson told the outlet.

Neighbors heard her cries for help, including Dona Mokbil, who said Saida’s words moved her to tears.

“She said, ‘Oh, I’m going to die and no one’s going to come with me,'” Mockbill said, according to WXYZ Detroit. “Then tears started filling my eyes.”

Her son pursued the suspect until he was arrested by authorities. Detroit police said the 73-year-old suspect may have been in a mental health crisis, the newspaper reported.

According to WXYZ Detroit, Saida received stitches at the hospital, but is now recovering at home.
