Immigration authorities confirmed that one of his players was an illegal immigrant and a youth soccer coach accused of sexual abuse and murder.
Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) filed detainees at the Los Angeles County Jail of Mario Edgardo Garcia Aquino, a 43-year-old Salvadra citizen who lives illegally in the United States. Garcia Aquino has been accused of killing 13-year-old Oscar “Omar” Hernandez of the San Fernando Valley, California. (Related: NOEM speeds up building boundary walls in places like “Smugglers Gulch”)
Hernandez was reported missing on March 28 after visiting soccer coach Garcia Aquino, but not returned. According to Local prosecutor. He boarded a train to Lancaster, California and never heard of it again.
The body of the 13-year-old boy was later found in Oxnard, California. Prosecutors believe Garcia Aquino tried to sexually abuse him before the murder.

“We should not have to endure the unimaginable pain and sadness of parents learning their children,” District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a statement prepared Monday. “Oscar simply got on the train and he or his family knew he would never return.”
“Sexual predators that target victims for their satisfaction will be held liable to the fullest extent of the law and will be charged,” Hochman continued. (Related: George Gascon loses Los Angeles DA race in a landslide)
Hernandez was a student at Sun Valley Magnet High School. According to Los Angeles Daily News. Garcia Aquino worked with children of all ages as youth soccer coach at the Hurricane Boys Soccer Club.
The defendant has a history of alleged sexual abuse of minors, and investigators believe there may be other victims. He was accused of sexually assaulting a teenager in December 2022 at his previous home in Sylmer, Los Angeles, according to prosecutors.
“What a slumped individual,” said Tricia McLaughlin, spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security. I said Interview with Fox News. “[Hernandez] I trusted his coach. His family trusted his coach – he came here illegally from El Salvador, but he doesn’t know when. ”

Garcia Aquino was charged with murder during the committee for alleging a special circumstances of murder or attempting a committee attempt to “scheduled conduct,” according to prosecutors. These charges result in him being subject to death penalty.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond when asked by the DCNF whether to honor detainees who remained at ICE.
