Sofia Vergara Is Totally Addictive In ‘Griselda,’ The Best Crime Show Since ‘Narcos’

This article contains spoilers for the Netflix series Griselda.

Sofia Vergara's biggest role to date, starring in Netflix's Griselda, ended in January, but the film remains the most addictive crime drama since Narcos.

Griselda” is the largely true story of Griselda Blanco, one of the most feared Colombian cocaine lords of the late 20th century. She was known as the industry's “godmother” and was believed to be responsible for the widespread addiction to cocaine among many of Miami's wealthy white residents. Her business expertise and penchant for violence made her a force to be reckoned with. Vergara's portrayal captures that perfectly.

Within the first two minutes of “Griselda,” you'll be as hooked on this show as people were hooked on cocaine in the '80s. As well as her action, drama, and overall acting talent. cast — Vergara in particular is a standout, but the show's aesthetic offers a pure escapism that I've only ever felt on “Narcos.”

A small “Narcos” team is behind the show, and that's no surprise. At this point, I don't trust anyone in the entertainment industry to tell the story of America's drug trade, except maybe Sicario screenwriter Taylor Sheridan. (Related: 'Dumb Money' is probably the most important movie in modern history because it shows how the world really works)

As of now, the series is only scheduled for one season. But after getting sucked into the world created by actors like Alberto Guerra, Vanessa Ferlito, Karol G, and Martín Rodríguez, it's hard to imagine this as a one-off series. Sure, there's a reason Vergara can't come back, but that doesn't mean the story of America's cocaine empire is over just yet.
