Spooky houses, UFO incidents, 5K races, and charity events taking place this weekend

Graham County – October weekends in Gillah Valley are bustling, and this one is packed with exciting events.

The weekend kicks off with the sixth annual haunted house opening at the Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society Museum in Pima on Thursday.

This haunted house, designed by volunteers, serves as a fundraiser for the museum. It’s located in the Carter section of the museum.

Visitors can experience the horror attraction every day from 7pm to 9pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and even on Halloween, October 31st. Admission is priced at $5, and Northcare options will be available this weekend.

“It’s all about the lights here; there’s no fear from live actors inside, and I walk with one of my guides,” said Clint Woods, who serves on the board of the Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society.

The Northcare Tour will take place from 10am to noon on Fridays and Saturdays.

Additionally, starting Thursday, the East Arizona University STEM Club will host another haunted house themed around a UFO crash landing. The club encourages the public to share their alien encounter stories using the hashtag #ibelieveateac.

This space-themed haunted attraction will be open from 7pm until midnight from Thursday through Saturday, with a $5 admission fee.

The Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society will also hold its annual pre-holiday bazaar at the Main Museum this weekend on Friday and Saturday, showcasing a dual mission.

This bazaar will feature local vendors displaying handmade goods. Over 12 vendors will be present, offering unique gifts and food items.

The pre-holiday bazaar will operate from 9am to 4pm on both days, and there’s no admission fee.

On Saturday morning, the Eastern Arizona College Lions Club is set to organize its annual Mental Health Awareness Run and Bike event.

Participants will have the option to either walk a 5K route through EAC’s Discovery Park campus or bike a longer 10K course. Registration is required.

Also happening on Saturdays, there will be a fundraiser aimed at supporting families affected by cancer.

This family night will be filled with live music, vendor booths, games, bounce houses, and raffles. There will be food available, including burgers, chips, and drinks for $10.

Family Fun Night is scheduled to take place at Reay Lane and Satcher’s New Sports Complex on 8th Street, starting at 5pm.

Returning to the Halloween theme, Nathaniel’s Children’s Cancer Foundation is hosting a Halloween Spooktacular on Monday at EAC’s John Mickelson Field.

The event will feature green chili or bean burritos, children’s games, trick-or-treats, and silent auction fundraisers.

The Halloween Spooktacular will commence at 6pm. EAC students can attend for free, while children under ten will be charged $5. All proceeds will benefit Haileigh Huffstetler, a young man battling cancer for the second time.
