The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that Eric Adrian Enderle, 72, was found guilty of multiple charges related to a 2021 street assault.
On March 19, 2021, Engdahl was driving on Walker Road near the South Shore entrance to Lynx Lake when the victim of the incident drove past him. In a statement, the YCSO said an “enraged” Engdahl pursued the victim, overtook him near mile marker 3, and opened fire on the victim’s car with a black pistol.
The victim provided a description of both Engdahl and his vehicle to law enforcement, which the YCSO was able to verify through an investigation.
As a last resort, Engdahl began his escape, shaving his “unique long-standing” mustache and changing his appearance. Additionally, Engdahl stripped the roof rack and bumper stickers from his car, drove it to Las Vegas, and dumped it at his friend’s house.
Engdahl then co-operated with the friend and lied to local police, claiming that the vehicle in question had been at the mansion last month.
But when confronted with conflicting evidence, Engdahl’s friend later put aside how long the vehicle had been there, according to the sheriff’s office.
On April 29, 2021, YCSO detectives arrested Engdahl after receiving information from the public along with evidence from the investigation.
Engdahl was imprisoned on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, endangerment, and criminal damage.
On Friday, May 12, 2023, a Yavapai County jury found Engdahl guilty of shooting from a vehicle, aggravated assault, criminal damage and tampering with physical evidence. He could now face a sentence of seven to 20 years in prison after being sentenced on June 26.
