Spurs’ Gregg Popovich Suffers Mild Stroke That Could See Him Out Of Action For Rest Of Season

We bring you important news from the NBA.

The San Antonio Spurs announced Wednesday that head coach Gregg Popovich suffered a mild stroke in early November that led to his recent sideline. All we knew at the time was that it was a medical procedure and that if he missed his act, it would be indefinite, but now we know that Pop is dealing with something serious. I understand. The Spurs announced in an official statement that Popovich’s stroke occurred on Nov. 2 at Frostbank Arena. A little over a week after the fact (11 days as of Nov. 13), San Antonio said the captain has begun a rehabilitation program and is “expected to make a full recovery.” That being said, there is no current schedule for Pop to make a comeback, but Pop could potentially miss the rest of his activities 2024-25 season.

Assistant Mitch Johnson will succeed the 75-year-old Popovich as interim head coach.

First of all, I wish Pop a speedy recovery. I know it might be a little premature to talk about this, but I think we should ask the question. Could Gregg Popovich’s final days ever happen to us? NBA?

If something like this were to happen, it would definitely lead to a retirement, or at least a farewell tour. Don’t get me wrong. I hope my guess is far off, but this is just something to think about.
