Squatters Move Into House After Tenants Die, Have Mail Directed There: Cops

Police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, said a squatter who allegedly broke into a home after a resident died had mail destined for the new residence.

Police said police responded after neighbors saw people entering the property near 15th Street and S. Yale Avenue at approximately 9:15 pm on January 15.

A police helicopter from the area spotted the two men leaving the back of the house heading north up the Yale River.

“The homeowner said the previous tenant passed away in November and the house was supposed to be vacant.”

“Another neighbor said he came home and saw the two enter the house and decided to call the police. I said I have.

“The two suspects broke into the residence multiple times and one of them was receiving mail, so it appears that he lived there for quite some time.”

Both Gasaway and Brewer were arrested for second-degree robbery.

According to the Tulsa Criminal Defense Law Firm, second-degree robbery in Oklahoma carries a sentence of two to seven years in state prison.

Bullhead City Police received a report of a burglary in progress at a home near 7th Avenue and Palm Avenue in Mojave County at approximately 3:30 am on September 10.
