St. Louis Blues Player Stretchered Off Ice After Taking A Puck To The Neck

St. Louis Blues forward Dylan Holloway was hospitalized Tuesday after suffering a neck injury during a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Holloway took the puck on the right side of his neck late in the first period, but he initially appeared unfazed and continued to shift as usual. Later, the NHL player was caught on camera tilting his head awkwardly as he returned to the bench for a line change, prompting trainer Ray Barile to stabilize Holloway’s neck and prompt paramedics to assist him.

The hockey player was taken on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital as his worried teammates looked on.

Holloway’s teammates showed their support by slamming their sticks on the ice, and the crowd applauded as Holloway was wheeled away for treatment.

Officials prioritized the immediate situation, ending the first period with 1 minute and 11 seconds left, and moving time to the second period.

“I was just sitting next to him and watching something happen,” Blues forward Alexei Trobchenko said. According to To the Associated Press. “The doctor came and I think everything is fine now. But you guys were worried.”

Blues manager Drew Bannister also spoke out about the incident and the concerns felt by Holloway’s teammates.

“I guess the only way I can put it is if you get a call at work and someone in your family is sick and you rush to the hospital,” he explained.
