The Birmingham Stallions won the United Football League's (UFL) in its inaugural season and won their third consecutive spring football championship.
Coach Skip Holtz, who has coached Birmingham since its inception, said he has no plans to go anywhere anytime soon.
During the performance Next LiveHoltz had some strong words on how he thinks about the UFL compared to the current college football landscape.
“I believe what I’m doing now is football at its purest level.

“I feel like what I'm doing right now is football at its purest level, where everybody's making the same amount of money. You can't say that in college or the NFL,” Holtz said. “The guys that are on this team, they love the game, they want to play, they want to watch film, they just love the game and they want to get better.”
He also spoke specifically about the transfer portal and NIL, saying that while he's a fan of each, the combination of the two is ruining the college game.

“I think the portal is necessary and I think it's great,” he said. “We need the portal so that players can enjoy this great game. If they find themselves in a different situation than they expected, if the coach changes, if they can't play or can't fulfill the role they wanted, they can still find a home to enjoy this great game. Because there's only so much time you can play.”
“I think NIL is necessary. There's a lot of money being made at the corporate level right now and I think the players deserve a piece of that. … I think it's detrimental when you put the two together. Players are transferring for the NIL money, but that's not what it's supposed to be about. … The sooner we can all get on the same page, the better chance college football has of being on a stable footing.”
On the surface, Holtz doesn't seem interested in taking another collegiate job at the moment, and Stallion fans will be happy to hear that Holtz has his sights set on a fourth consecutive title in Birmingham.
