Stanford Football Fires Head Coach Troy Taylor After He Allegedly Bullied Female Staffers

Stanford announced Tuesday that they had fired football coach Troy Taylor.

The move from the school comes a week after two outside companies discovered that Taylor was allegedly bullied and disrespected female staff, and an ESPN report that an NCAA compliance officer was fired after warnings of violation of rules and made “inappropriate” comments about what she would look like in multiple cases. “Since starting my role as general manager, I have been a thorough assessment of the Stanford football program, and it is clear that certain aspects of the program need to be changed.” “Moreover, there has been a lot of attention recently in Stanford’s research over the past few years in relation to Coach Taylor.

“After continuing consideration, it is clear that our program needs a reset. In consultation with university leadership, I cannot believe that Coach Taylor is the right coach to lead the football program. Coach Taylor will be notified today and changes will occur soon.”

It is currently unclear whether Taylor’s remaining contract will be paid by Stanford.

At the time of the ESPN report, the university said Taylor was compliant with two research into him and was committed to seeing his behavior improve.
