Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGlenn made the announcement on February 23rd.rd, 2024, a Yavapai County jury convicted Stanley Wilburn Smith, 66, of Prescott, Arizona, on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Mr McGlenn thanked the jury for their careful attention to the evidence at trial. “Those who sexually objectify young children have no place in society,” County Attorney McGrane said in a statement. Please rest assured that we will prosecute accordingly.”
McGrane County Attorney also praised the Prescott Police Department's excellent investigation into what happened. The investigation began after Smith's girlfriend discovered a large number of sexual images of children on Smith's mobile phone and called police. Forensic experts then examined the phone pursuant to a search warrant and discovered hundreds of images. Some of the children appeared to be under 10 years old.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 25, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. before the Honorable Judge Debra Phelan in Yavapai County Superior Court. Smith could face a minimum sentence of 100 years in prison due to the young age of the children in the images.
