Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cameron Sutton has been suspended eight games without pay for violating the league's personal conduct code, the NFL announced Monday.

In April, Sutton, 29, entered a pretrial diversion program to address a domestic violence case, court records show. ESPNAfter turning himself in to the Hillsborough County, Florida, Sheriff's Office, Smith was charged with misdemeanor assault. He had been wanted by police for several weeks in connection with the incident.
As a result of investigating the incident, NFL The NBA ruled that Sutton violated the personal conduct policy, and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday that Sutton will not appeal the suspension.

Sutton was a member of the Detroit Lions at the time of his arrest, but the team released him after learning of the warrant for his arrest. At the time, Sutton was one year into his three-year, $33 million contract set to expire in 2023.
In his lone season with the Lions, Sutton started every game and recorded one interception, one forced fumble and 50 tackles.
In June, he signed a one-year contract with Pittsburgh, where he spent the first six seasons of his career.
