Stephanie Bell, 30-year conservative champion of education, endorses Kelly Mooney for Alabama School Board



After 30 years as the first and only Republican to represent District 3 on the Alabama State Board of Education, Stephanie Bell has endorsed Kelly Mooney to fill the seat. This is the first time Bell has publicly endorsed a candidate for public office.

First elected in 1994, Bell served eight terms, including one two-year term, making him the longest elected state education commissioner in state history.

“While it was a difficult decision not to seek re-election, I am confident that Kelly Mooney is well prepared to represent District 3 on the State Board of Education,” said Bell. He added that his conservative ideals and local roots make him well suited for the school board role. service.

“I encouraged Kelly to run,” Bell said, noting that he first met Kelly Mooney in Montgomery more than 40 years ago. Kelly and Arnold Mooney of Montgomery have been married for 41 years. They are blessed with three children and 11 grandchildren.

Kelly Mooney, who served as a custodian at Briarwood Christian School for 15 years, said her key issues include parental rights and responsibilities, fiscal responsibility and transparency, and a strong “back to basics” foundational curriculum. It says that it will be done.

District 3 of the Alabama State Board of Education includes all of Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Elmore, and Shelby counties, and portions of Jefferson, Montgomery, and Talladega counties.

The Republican primary election will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
